Baroda is the birthplace of Hazrat Inayat Khan, it is where he spent his childhood and also the place where he first mastered Indian classical music that would carry his message across the world. He trained here under his grandfather, Moula Baksh, who had brought together the Hindustani and Karnatic traditions of North and South India – a lineage the city still holds.

In this centennial year, Baroda returns to that beginning. A new generation of music students at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda will learn Hazrat Inayat Khan’s songs and teachings, and the city will host performances carrying his musical legacy.
